Collection description
This painting depicts ten female members of the harem sitting around a large rectangular table. Some are drinking tea, while others are making wine orders. The four people above are playing the Hujia (筚篥), pipa, guzheng and sheng respectively for the banquet. Everyone is adding to the fun, and there is a maid standing on the left, holding a clapper in her hand, beating the rhythm. Although there is no author's name on the painting, the figure's plump figure, the way of painting the bun and clothing are also in line with the aesthetic style of women in the Tang Dynasty. , due to its short and narrow format, it is speculated that it may have originally been a decorative screen used in the palace during the mid-late Tang Dynasty, and was later modified into a hanging scroll form.
