You can enjoy it for everyday use. I think it would also make a great gift for celebrations. It can be used for both hot and cold items. The inside is finished with wiped lacquer, which brings out the wood grain and texture. Also, the chisel-like texture feels nice on the fingers. *The "random line chisel pattern" will vary for each individual piece. *Please note that the wood grain and other features of each piece may differ from the photo. *When you put something warm in a new lacquerware, you may notice a lacquer smell, but this is not abnormal. The smell will go away as you use it. *Even if the lacquerware becomes worn down with use, it can be restored to like-new condition by repainting (a feature of lacquerware).
