Single Bloom Vase in Red Earthenware with White Matte Glaze

This vase showcases the cozy warmth and textured feel inherent to earthenware, made from a coarse red clay. It has been molded into a plump, rounded shape for a single bloom and fired with a subtle, off-white matte glaze. The small, bulbous form, with its resemblance to a steamed bun or an onion, makes for a delightful flower vase. All stages of production, from clay preparation to shaping, trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously handcrafted in my studio, equipped with an electric potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln. As pottery is naturally porous, a sealant has been applied to prevent water leakage. This treatment has been tested to hold water for approximately 40 hours. However, some moisture may still subtly emerge from the base due to evaporation. If this is a concern, placing a fabric coaster underneath will ensure worry-free use. I enjoy experimenting with various glazes and clays, constantly seeking the best combinations to create a diverse range of ceramic pieces in different colors and shapes.
