Hand-adjusted Calligraphy Nib Care: 1. For calligraphy nibs, it is generally recommended to ink the nib and allow it to break in for a period before using a converter. 2. If experiencing ink flow issues with a converter, check your writing angle. Ensure both iridium points are simultaneously contacting the paper; avoid writing on a bias. If ink flow issues persist, check the nib for paper fibers or debris. 3. Remove the converter and try filling the pen directly with ink (via the section) to test. 4. Thoroughly rinse the nib. If the iridium points are not aligned or if excessive pressure is applied, it can cause misalignment of the iridium points, leading to scratching and paper debris accumulation in the slit. 5. Calligraphy nibs are adjusted from EF nibs to have a curved tip. Line variation is achieved through the angle of the pen, not by pressing down on the nib. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area between the nib and the paper, resulting in finer lines. The more angled the pen, the larger the contact area, producing broader strokes.
