Pottery, handmade, hand-painted, one-of-a-kind
Diameter 8.3cm Height 7.5cm
This is a colored cup made by hand-painting white decorative mud on brownish red clay mixed with pebbles, and then painting motifs of houses and bird in the forest on top of that.
The edges are painted with a Bronze glaze that resembles rusted metal.
The cup has bumps, pinholes, and a rough texture, giving it a more earthy feel.
It is thick, palm-sized, and can also be used as a sake cup.
*Unlike porcelain, pottery (earthenware) has a soft, warm ceramic surface.
There may also be pinholes (holes in the glaze) or small chips in the glaze which do not affect the use of the product, but we hope you will consider these to be part of the unique character of earthenware and its charm.
This is the unique imperfect beauty, or charm, of earthenware.
Since pottery is made from clay, when you hold it in your hands it gives a more rustic impression than it does in pictures.
However, that's only at the beginning, and once you get used to it, you'll start to appreciate the real thing, its texture and simplicity.
