The Tao of Shen Nong. Returning to Nature

Qing Qing De Dao X Wei Wei Dao Lai Rice paddies on the hillside Morning mist dissipates with the dawn Egrets play in the water A sea breeze blows Carrying the scent of the Pacific Swaying rice stalks A golden, abundant sea The whisper of rice A song of the earth 🌾 I met Pei Wei while living in Taitung; she is a natural farmer residing on the East Coast. She cultivates pure food without fertilizers or pesticides, firmly believing that such food brings happiness to people. Every time I hear her stories about the land, I am deeply moved. Because of her, I've come to profoundly feel that humans, whether aware or unaware, are all intrinsically connected to this land. I remember one day, I asked Pei Wei, what does "kindness" mean? Her response was: "For me, true kindness isn't just towards humans. True kindness is kindness towards humans, kindness towards the land, and kindness towards everything in the world." In that moment, I was deeply touched. Because I knew these words were not hollow. They had genuinely grown from Pei Wei's life, like a rice seedling planted in spring. 🌾 "When I care for the land, I am also cared for by the land." One afternoon, I followed Pei Wei on her irrigation rounds. I walked behind her, watching her move along the green ridges, occasionally crouching to adjust the soil around the water outlets. "Irrigation rounds" are tasks farmers must attend to daily, regulating the balance between water and the rice seedlings. This balance is a principle that has existed in the universe since its very beginnings. In our world, this small group of natural farmers allows this principle to manifest, without interfering with nature. Watching Pei Wei tend to the fields that day, simply knowing that such people exist, maintaining such a beautiful relationship with the land, filled me with a sense of wonder and happiness. Pei Wei says, "When I care for the land, I am also cared for by the land." The authenticity of laboring on the land allows Pei Wei to feel her own vitality within this truth. And in turn, it moves those of us who eat her rice, deeply touched by this same authenticity. To me, Pei Wei not only cares for the land, but she also inspires souls to embrace this goodness. The world is a little more beautiful because Pei Wei exists. 🌾 About "The Tao of Shen Nong" Pei Wei's words stem from her most authentic experiences while working the land. Each time I hear them, it feels like Mother Earth tapping my head and patting my shoulder. Because of this, we began to earnestly record Pei Wei's words, jokingly calling them "The Tao of Shen Nong." Though said in jest, the term "Shen Nong" (a legendary Chinese agricultural deity) carries our profound respect as those who only "open their mouths" and do the eating. This collaboration between Qing Qing De Dao and Wei Wei Dao Lai marks Qing Qing De Dao's first time printing words not originally their own. We love these words so much that we wanted to invite everyone to experience their beauty and strength. And, of course, to support the authentic lives of natural farmers. This collection, born from genuine affection, was created with the most beautiful intentions. I want to thank each of you who have read this far. Thank you for listening. No matter what, I believe we all have a kind heart. May we meet one day in that field of the heart. 🌾 The Tao of Shen Nong This collection features eight unique designs. The words are provided by Wei Wei Dao Lai, handwritten and printed by Qing Qing De Dao. The paper is Muffin paper, exuding a grounded, earthy texture. Each card is postcard-sized, measuring approximately 11 x 15 cm. The colors are a palette of earthy tones, specially selected by Qing Qing De Dao – beautiful, and we believe you'll love them. 🌾 After finishing this set of postcards, I noticed the handwriting had become somewhat endearing. I pondered why, and I think it's because these words come from a different source than Qing Qing De Dao's usual creations, leading to a different state of mind while writing. A different state of mind results in different handwriting, and for me, this was a wonderful experience. While writing these words, I once again delved deeply into the profound meaning held within each phrase, as if imprinting them onto my soul with every stroke. I am consistently moved to tears. "We are met on this Earth now, so let us exist fully." I will cherish these beautiful encounters in life, as each one helps me understand more clearly who I am. I hope we can all flow with the currents of life, live well, take good care of ourselves, and love this land and ourselves with pure hearts. With deepest blessings.
