The history of the LS jewelry trademark began more than four decades ago when Lee Sands, a jewelry designer from Los Angeles, California, founded his company, LeeSands Inc. The company was officially registered in 1980 and ceased operations in 2003. In fact, LeeSands began creating jewelry long before he founded the family business and registered the "Honolulu Puka Shell Exchange", which was registered in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1975.
Lee’s original designs included wooden beads, puka shells, shimmering mother-of-pearl, semi- Gemstone, Silver, metal alloys and a variety of natural materials.
Handmade from natural Hawaiian materials, his inlaid shell jewelry is unique. In addition, Lee Sands showcases Hawaiian craftsmanship to the world through his business. In fact, it was not jewelry but accessories that brought fame to this designer. In particular, in the 1980s, he made notepad wallets from eel skin. According to Lee, he travels around the world to find new, exotic materials for future jewelry.
