Ñandutí, in the local Guaraní language, means "spiderweb." True to its name, it is a delicate handicraft made with thread. A base thread is stretched, and another thread is woven or knotted onto it to create patterns. The embroidery is stiffened with a starch solution and then detached from the base fabric, resulting in Ñandutí. The texture is quite crisp to the touch, firm enough to maintain its shape while retaining the softness of the thread material.
