Rice husk Handmade Silver Earring (E0149)

This earring is hand crafted in 98% silver by the Karen hill-tribe silversmiths. The shape is inspired by en empty rice husk, that cover the grains of rice, the Asian daily bread. The surface on both sides is etched to create a natural dry husk shell effect and is also embossed to create the grain veins on the upper side of the earring. The long hook is welded on the inner side. These nature-inspired earrings are very lightweight, comfortable to wear and suitable for any occasion. The Karen are a group of ethnic peoples who reside primarily in southern and southeastern Burma and in northern and north-eastern Thailand. Thai and Burmese hill tribes can be traced back to the 12th century when they are said to have originated from Tibet. With a higher silver content than sterling silver, Karen silver has a weight, bright satin color and feel, all of its own. Every piece is handmade and individual.
