**Harnessing the Entire Tea Plant: The Flavorful Oil Beyond the Leaves**
__Sun Moon Lake black tea boasts a rich flavor in summer and autumn, while its nutrients concentrate into tea seeds during winter.__
Fiche Township, beside Sun Moon Lake, is Taiwan's most significant black tea producing region. In 1925, the Japanese introduced Assam tea seedlings for trial cultivation here. Unexpectedly, Fiche's soil, mist, and temperature variations allowed this foreign tea variety to take root in Taiwan.
What we commonly know is the taste of black tea made from the leaves of these tea trees. However, tea plants also flower and bear fruit annually. Guofang Mingcha manages its tea gardens organically, nurturing over a thousand old Camellia trees and Taiwan Tea No. 8 (Assam). In addition to their own tea harvesting and processing, Brother Guozhen, whose background is in professional catering, uses his culinary skills to collect the tea seeds—which are often discarded by other tea gardens as troublesome—to produce oil each year. He creates just one batch annually, capturing the essence of the climate and terroir of that specific year in his black tea seed oil.

**Smooth and Not Bitter—Versatile for Everything from Stir-Fries to Noodle Salads**
__Belonging to the Camellia family like tea oil, black tea seed oil has a milder character, making it suitable for traditional Chinese cooking methods.__
During processing, black tea seeds are first roasted to ensure safety. This step removes astringency and, through moderate roasting, promotes the formation of various beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, which increase after heat treatment. Black tea seed oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (Omega-9) and possesses excellent heat resistance, performing admirably in low to medium-temperature frying and stir-frying. However, it is milder than tea oil—offering a smooth mouthfeel with a subtle nutty aroma, without bitterness or pungency, making it also ideal for cold dressings.
Naturally, we highly recommend using it directly on noodles. Drizzle the oil over hot, freshly drained noodles to significantly enhance their aroma.
