Product Description

https://eavo.com.tw/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/%E5%A4%A7%E6%88%90%E6%AE%BF01.jpg The Dacheng Hall is the highest-ranking building within the Confucius Temple complex, situated on an elevated platform. Its front terrace serves as the stage for the ritual dance “Yi Dance” performed during the Sacrificial Ceremony. The terrace’s front features the “Chi Steps,” stone carvings of dragon offspring, while the upper path, known as the “Imperial Way,” symbolizes the emperor’s exclusive route. At each corner of the platform are drainage “Chi Heads” (also called “Ao Heads”), symbolizing supremacy. The roof ridge features the temple-unique “Tongtian Tube,” and the sloping ridges are decorated with “Owls,” inspired by the Book of Songs, reflecting the legend of Confucius enlightening owls. Inside the hall, the central altar at the north end enshrines Confucius’ spirit tablet, first established in the Ming Jiajing era, with statues replaced by wood-carved tablets, honoring him as the “Supremely Sage Teacher.” Flanking the hall are niches for the Four Companions and Twelve Philosophers, with plaques bestowed by successive emperors, highlighting Confucius’ esteemed status.
