These are SDGs jewelry featuring Kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Fukuikama, a Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki potter based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture.
Broken or chipped pottery, no longer in use, is repurposed and adorned with Kintsugi to be reborn as accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to bring nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to the wearer, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future, creating new possibilities.
Light purple pottery fragments, hand-painted with delicate designs, are accented with freshwater pearls and orange aventurine.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gold to catch the light even from the side, lending an air of refined elegance.
The accompanying chain is made of surgical stainless steel, treated with 18K plating, making it resistant to tarnishing and gentle on the skin, suitable for those with sensitivities.
The chain length is 40cm with an additional 5cm adjuster.
Size of pottery fragment and natural stone motif: 20 x 18mm
Chain: Surgical stainless steel chain with 18K plating (hypoallergenic)
Weight: Despite being pottery, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind accessory, it makes for an ideal gift.
Perfect for conveying your affection to someone special.
*The item pictured will be sent. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be produced to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones compared to the photos.
*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair technique that mends broken or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. These pieces are created using a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional methods using natural lacquer derived from the sap of the lacquer tree, this process uses adhesive for bonding.
The Kintsugi areas are made with lacquer (a commercially produced paint, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
