Pink Opal is a silicate mineral with the chemical formula SiO2·nH2O. It is a hydrated silica gel, typically containing 4% to 9% water, with a maximum of up to 20%. It is an amorphous gemstone with a resinous luster, no cleavage, and a conchoidal fracture. Its refractive index is 1.45, its density is 2.15 g/cm², and its Mohs hardness is 5-6.5. Both temperature and humidity can accelerate the decomposition or oxidation of organic gemstones. Due to the hardness and formation state of organic gemstones, please also avoid hot springs and hot baths, as well as products containing cleaning agents. Opal is a delicate gemstone that requires a little moisture for its upkeep. Therefore, desiccants are not included in the storage pouch. Naturally, like other gemstones, it should not be worn during bathing or in hot springs, and opals should not be cleaned with silver polishing cloths. Simply wipe opals with a clean, dry, or slightly damp cloth. We will provide a jewelry polishing cloth. After wearing, gently wipe the ring clean and store it in the gemstone pouch. For natural gemstone and metal jewelry, it is not recommended to wear them in hot springs or while bathing, as chemicals can easily cause chemical reactions with the jewelry.
