A Cross-Temporal Creation by the Potter and the User
The charm of crackled tea ware lies in its transcendence of time and space, becoming a collaborative work between the potter and its owner. Each crackle, each layer of color, represents your shared journey with this vessel. As time passes, this piece will enrich itself with the nuances of your life, evolving into a true work of art embodying "beauty in use."
The creations from Yu Hua-Yu's studio are for those who cherish details and value the quality of life, transforming tea tasting from a simple act into an extension of enjoyment and refined taste.
→ Purchase Notes:
1. All products in this design hall are purely handmade, and each piece is unique, which is the very charm of ceramic art.
2. All works in this design hall are new pieces by Master Yu Hua-Yu, and each is one-of-a-kind. The design hall will update new works regularly. If you like a particular piece, please act quickly. We apologize if it has been sold or is no longer available! Alternatively, please contact the design hall to see if there are any similar pieces.
3. During the firing process, natural distribution phenomena may occur in the glaze, which is entirely normal. Artist Introduction:
Artist: Master Yu Hua-Yu
Born in 1980, he was captivated by the mysterious art of wheel-thrown pottery during junior high school, an experience that left an indelible impression. After completing his military service, he moved to Yingge alone and studied under Masters Wu Guo-Rong and Wu Jian-Cai, laying a solid foundation in wheel throwing and firing techniques. After establishing his studio, he dedicated himself to meticulous research and development. During this period, he received accolades such as the Gold Award for Cultural and Creative Innovation in the Taiwan Golden Teapot Award Ceramic Design Competition and an Award of Excellence from the Tainan City Craft and Cultural Promotion Association. He is currently a contemporary young Taiwanese ceramic artist.
Master Yu Hua-Yu has spent over twenty years mastering the properties of various clays, infusing them with his unique creativity, and blending tradition with modernity. He has developed the "Shifting Shino Series," "Rock Mineral Series," and "Purple Clay Cloud Mist Series" of ceramic works. Furthermore, Master Yu has successfully recreated the celadon firing techniques of the Song Dynasty! His crackled series of works emulate the Song Dynasty's wood-firing techniques, firing continuously for 5 days and 4 nights at temperatures above 1260 degrees Celsius. After turning to ash, the natural ash fall creates the "crackled" Song Dynasty celadon, which is truly astonishing.
