SunBambooTree: A unique name, originating from an association founded by Dr. Lin Jia-fa, a respected local philanthropist in Toufen, Miaoli. The association's mission is to foster integrated mind-body-spirit well-being, elevate local culture and knowledge, and provide spaces for rest and learning. Inspired by Dr. Lin's contributions to the community, the Old Goat fountain pen is named in his honor.
This pen is meticulously crafted from South American green sandalwood, which possesses a distinct aroma. Its color, initially a warm, yellowish-brown, deepens into a richer green over time through exposure to air and sunlight. The wood features unique pores and natural grain patterns, making each piece distinct. (This is a natural wood model, a must-have for those who appreciate the beauty of raw wood.) Accented with gunmetal gray electroplated hardware and a uniquely molded clip, it boasts an airtight cap design.
This model is available with two distinct nib configurations: a Small Standard Calligraphy Titanium Tip, or a Small Tang Knife (a nib similar to a long Naginata-Togi), both meticulously hand-ground and adjusted from German Bock #180 (#5) small standard titanium nibs by Old Goat artisans.
The Calligraphy Titanium Tip is a German Bock #180 (#5) small standard titanium nib, artfully hand-adjusted and ground by Old Goat artisans into a curved, flexible calligraphy nib capable of producing varied line widths. Compared to steel nibs, the calligraphy titanium tip offers greater elasticity and a more responsive writing feel, allowing for a unique writing experience.
The Small Tang Knife is a German Bock #180 (#5) small standard titanium nib, handcrafted and precisely ground by Old Goat artisans into a blade-like tip (akin to a long Naginata-Togi). This allows for subtle line width variations, offering a distinct feel from steel nibs, while still providing the characteristic elasticity and feedback of a titanium nib.
**Gift Set Includes:** German SCHMIDT K2 converter (ink not included) + a special gift of a green genuine leather pen sleeve handcrafted by a Taiwanese artisan (in a unique crocodile-embossed style) + a premium 3952 gift box packaging.
Dimensions: Weight approximately 32 grams, Length 147mm, Cap diameter 12mm, Barrel diameter 12mm, Barrel with nib extended 125mm.
Hand-adjusted Calligraphy Nib Care:
1. For optimal performance with a calligraphy nib, it is generally recommended to first prime it by dipping it in ink and allowing it to condition for a short period before using a converter.
2. If experiencing ink flow issues with a converter, check your grip angle. Ensure both iridium points are simultaneously contacting the paper; avoid writing with one side predominantly. If the issue persists, inspect the nib for any trapped paper fibers or debris.
3. Try filling the pen directly by removing the converter and using the filling mechanism.
4. Clean the nib thoroughly. If the iridium points are misaligned or if excessive pressure is applied, it can lead to misalignment, causing scratching or ink flow interruptions.
5. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib adjusted to have an arc. Line variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by adjusting your writing angle, utilizing the nib's curvature to create different line widths. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area with the paper, resulting in finer lines. The more you tilt the pen, the larger the contact area, producing broader strokes. The ability to achieve both fine and broad lines depends on your practice and skill.
In line with our commitment to environmental protection, we do not proactively provide paper bags. If gift wrapping is required, please specify this in your order notes. Thank you.

Note: Regularly wipe and maintain the interior of the pen body and cap. When storing the pen, avoid prolonged downward placement of the nib.
Gentle Reminder: Avoid pressing down on the nib or writing with excessive lateral pressure (for right-handed users, it is recommended to hold the nib at approximately the 10 or 11 o'clock position). This helps prevent iridium point misalignment, scratching, and ink flow issues. Frequently rinse the nib with clean water to prevent ink clogs and maintain optimal writing performance.
