These are our ever-popular double-weave socks, featuring smooth silk on the inside and organic cotton on the outside. Dyed using a method called botanical dyeing, this shade is a soft moss green extracted from cacao husks, offering a versatile, basic hue. To ensure the natural colors set beautifully, 3% of chemicals are used, allowing you to enjoy the color for a long time, even after washing. These socks provide warmth and a comfortable, snug fit. They are perfect worn alone in warmer weather, or as a first layer for added warmth during colder seasons. The top of the ankle is designed to be loose and non-restrictive, while the foot and ankle area offers a comfortable, snug fit. Many "cold-prevention" socks are very loose, making them difficult to wear alone and requiring layering for stability. However, our Silk Cotton Warming Socks have a regular fit and thickness that allows them to be worn as a single layer. This makes them durable, unlike looser cold-prevention socks that can be prone to tearing. They are also recommended for those who dislike five-toe socks or find other cold-prevention socks easily damaged. For extra warmth during the cold winter months, we recommend layering them with COCOCOCO's original "Low Gauge Socks" for a wonderfully cozy experience. [What is Botanical Dyeing?] Botanical dyeing is a technique that extracts dyes from sources such as flowers, leaves, roots, stems, trees, bark, and fruits. After evenly applying a protein-based adhesive to the fabric to help the natural dye adhere, a small amount of chemical dye is incorporated. This process enhances colorfastness (resisting discoloration from light, sweat, and washing, and stabilizing the pigment) without the need for a mordant, allowing the beautiful, natural colors to be expressed on the fabric. Natural dyes are not as simple as chemical dyes; they contain multiple pigments within a single color. The interplay of weaker and stronger pigments, through diffuse reflection, creates a gentle hue that is pleasing to the eye.
