Even though I already have many in my wardrobe, I still buy new ones every year! Since I fell into the vintage rabbit hole, besides bags and small accessories, I also keep an eye out for scarves. This is because vintage styles tend to be more timeless, and the prices are always more affordable than modern pieces... But unfortunately, finding a vintage scarf that is both desirable and in good condition is much harder than finding a bag! After all, textiles are more difficult to maintain in good condition than leather. Therefore, I can only acquire a few vintage scarves each year... So, if you're looking for a vintage scarf, seize the opportunity when you find one, because it's highly unlikely you'll find the same style or color again. ⚐⚑˒˒ This is a pure wool shawl scarf made in Italy. It's lightweight with good quality wool, not too thick, making it suitable for the weather in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Made in Italy, and it's reversible! Composed of two shades of deep navy blue, it can be worn on either side. Cool tones are versatile for anyone, regardless of gender! The entire scarf features an all-over Arc de Triomphe pattern. It is a pre-owned item but in very good condition, with no particularly noticeable flaws, only a slight sense of use. There are no obvious snags, loose threads, or color bleeding issues, nor is there any pilling. You would only notice signs of wear upon very close inspection. It retains its original Celine tag area. As everyone knows, brand-name scarves are generally not inexpensive, and Celine no longer offers simple styles like this in special colors. Most pre-owned items from the past were handmade, carrying the warmth of craftsmanship before the era of mass production. The artisan skill of major brands was many times more meticulous than machinery; every step was exquisitely crafted! However, today, most processes are mechanized with some manual assembly. Machine-made parts lack the same level of detail. A direct comparison can be made by looking at modern brand reissues of classic monogram patterns against genuine vintage ones. The subtlety of the monogram pattern alone reveals a significant difference. If you love monogram patterns, seek out pre-owned items! Truly! In terms of style, vintage pieces were generally more simple, timeless, and enduring. Many new designs today are actually reissues of older styles. Yet, new models are priced higher, and their designs are typically enhancements or modifications of older styles. Ultimately, new designs become more complex than their vintage predecessors. As you grow older, you understand that simplicity endures the longest!! The quality of raw materials in vintage pieces is also superior to new ones. Anyone who understands leather can see it; the materials used in new items are often secondary to older ones. This is mainly because the cost and availability of high-quality raw materials are high now, and brands back then had very high standards for their finished products. The difference between new and old can be most easily seen in the hardware. The hardware on many new models oxidizes and discolors after just one or two years of use, but vintage pieces generally do not. Besides the premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with real K gold! Therefore, even vintage bags produced in the 60s and 70s still retain their brilliant shine today! Among the new models available now, based on my knowledge, no brand uses K gold for their hardware. Many say that vintage bags are a unique form of investment. They rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. This is based on personal experience; I regret not entering the vintage world sooner for many collections, as they are now impossible to find or prohibitively expensive even if found... For pre-owned bag orders, an extra leather care oil will be included (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I use it myself, so I decant a small amount to give away. Apply a small amount to genuine leather for cleaning and to restore moisture, but it doesn't need to be done after every use; periodically is sufficient. I usually do it when I'm organizing my closet at the change of seasons (which makes seasonal transitions quite a project...|||). The leather on pre-owned bags is inherently excellent. As long as it's not used roughly and is stored properly, it can easily last another ten years to be passed down to your daughter!
