Tigers symbolize authority and auspiciousness. There's a saying, "Worship the Golden Tiger, and you'll be truly prosperous." 🤭🤭
Ancient China held a natural reverence for tigers, which later became an integral part of folk beliefs. It is said, "The Earth God governs the tigers of the mountains." Ancient people believed that tigers were under the dominion of the Earth God. Tigers subdued by mountain gods, Earth Gods, or City Gods were imbued with divine power. Not only would they not harm people or livestock, but they would also protect humans; thus, tigers were widely revered as "Tiger Lords" and devoutly worshipped.
In Taiwanese folk religion, the Tiger Lord is the mount for deities like Bao Sheng Da Di, City God, and Earth God, often appearing beneath the altar. Various appellations have emerged from local legends, such as "General Heavenly Tiger," "Marshal of the Lower Altar," and "General Black Tiger." People believe the Tiger Lord can ward off evil spirits, protect children and household animals, and "the Tiger Lord brings wealth," facilitating financial prosperity.
The Tiger Lord's generals are the Five Tiger Generals, who command the five camps, representing the five directions and elements. The auspicious Western Tiger, white and associated with metal, is particularly effective for turning fortunes. The Northern Luck-Boosting Tiger, black and associated with water, excels at blessing those whose luck is insufficient, specializing in stabilizing and replenishing fortune.
❤️ White Tiger Lord: Represents a turning point in luck, where everything falls into place, and opportunities arrive, leading to smooth work and career progression.
❤️ Black Tiger Lord: Represents the "gathering of righteous luck," leading to a steady ascent in studies, career, or business, as radiant as the midday sun.
Our porcelain seals, inlaid with natural gemstones, offer a delicate and warm tactile experience. The creation of these seals blends unique artistry in painting, carving, sculpting, underglaze coloring, gold inlay, and gem setting. They serve not only a practical function but also possess artistic value for collectors!
Characteristics of Lin Han-Wei's White Porcelain Seals:
I. Pioneering combination of gold inlay and natural gemstone inlay. Some gemstones are high-temperature resistant and fired together with the porcelain seal, forming an integrated piece – a first in Taiwan.
II. Lin Han-Wei's experience working at the headquarters of Farglory Fine China and the Jingdezhen factory has enabled the integration of underglaze colors and gold inlay (fired gold) into white porcelain seals. The gold inlay uses Heraeus gold paste from Germany, hand-painted and fired at 800°C (containing 12% pure gold), bringing richer colors and variations to the seal itself, achieving a modern seal carving style.
III. The porcelain seals are fired at a high temperature of 1230°C, resulting in extremely high hardness and wear resistance. Once fired, the seal is permanently resistant to wear, making it significantly harder than other stones! The underglaze colors are fired, ensuring they never fade, and the porcelain glaze is as lustrous as jade, exquisite and pure.
IV. The design of the porcelain seals is not limited to traditional knob forms. The overall shape is integrated and modernly diverse, exquisite and delicate, beloved by various groups. They can be custom-made as personal seals, name seals, company seals, collectible seals, decorative seals, couple's seals, wedding seals, or image seals, making them ideal as custom gifts.
V. Each porcelain seal is entirely handmade, from the clay molding of the raw piece, refining the body, washing, air-drying, carving, inlaying, biscuit firing, underglaze coloring, high-temperature glaze firing, to the final gold inlay firing. Each seal undergoes at least 3-4 firings, with each firing requiring at least 10 hours in the kiln, followed by cooling and removal. The process for each porcelain seal is complex and time-consuming, taking approximately three to four weeks.
VI. As the porcelain seal's shape is integrated, any breakage of a stroke during carving requires restarting the entire piece. This makes the creation of porcelain seals exceptionally difficult and risky, thereby highlighting the preciousness of each seal.
