Coarse red clay that allows you to enjoy the rustic texture and comforting warmth unique to earthenware. A slightly flowing, nuanced white glaze is applied, with light blue glaze brushstrokes added over it. This rice bowl allows you to enjoy the warmth unique to red earthenware and the refreshing colors of white and light blue. While the vessel has a plump, round, and soft impression, the slightly smaller foot gives it a clean appearance. Its depth also allows it to securely hold moist rice dishes such as egg-over-rice or okayu. The light blue color pairs well with white and yellow, and is recommended for white rice, mixed-grain rice, chestnut rice, or sweet potato cooked rice. All processes, from kneading the clay to forming, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. It has a slight heft, but this in turn allows you to feel the character of the pottery. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique expression, and you can enjoy the charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the same as pictured. The surface that contacts the table will be sanded smooth before shipping. I create various ceramic pieces in different colors and shapes, exploring the best combinations using various glazes and clays.
