After shaping the generously sized, plumply rounded cup, a brushed pattern was applied using colorful slips. The design evokes the gentle spring breeze in a garden, with colors that shift and change depending on the angle, allowing you to enjoy various visual expressions. The rim is accented with a traditional underglaze called "sabi." Its rounded form is soft and welcoming, with gentle curves that nestle comfortably in your palm. The simple, warm texture pairs beautifully with Japanese teas like green tea, roasted green tea, or matcha, making it a perfect companion for a cozy moment with Japanese sweets or dry confections. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with an electric pottery kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, and you can enjoy the distinct charm that comes from handmade craftsmanship. The item you receive will be the same as pictured. To minimize scratching your table, the base has been sanded smooth before shipping. Additionally, this pottery has been treated with a sealant by us, so there is no need for initial soaking (me-zome). You can use it immediately after a light rinse upon arrival. I explore various combinations of glazes and clays, constantly seeking the best pairings, and create pottery in a wide range of colors and shapes.
