Crested Serpent Eagle (Taiwan endemic subspecies) Painted Open Ring

A robust, large, brown raptor of the forest. It inhabits forests at low to mid-altitudes, and is highly adaptable to fragmented forests created by development. It is not particularly wary of humans, often perching in conspicuous locations, and can tolerate human activity at a moderate distance. As its alternative name "snake eagle" suggests, its diet consists mainly of snakes and reptiles, but it also preys on other animals ranging from earthworms to large songbirds.
