Burmese Daron Charm Beads - 113 pieces (Length 79cm)

Ancient beads unearthed in Myanmar. The main beads feature the common linear pattern, also known in the industry as lightning patterns. These 113 drilled charm beads were recovered from a collapsed stupa in Mandalay. They are sacred artifacts with distinctive characteristics and religious blessings. These Daron charm beads, in the form of prayer beads, have been polished to remove oxidized patina. The beads are made of copper alloy, containing gold, though not in a high proportion. During their creation, cinnabar was added and melted together. The beads appear bright yellow when photographed, but will naturally oxidize and darken over time if not polished and maintained. There are 4 larger beads, with an average maximum diameter between 1.1-1.2 cm. There are 109 smaller beads, with an average maximum diameter between 0.9-0.95 cm. Dating is based on artifacts unearthed alongside the stupa. The period is estimated to be the 18th-19th century. These prayer bead-style charm beads are typically found in sets of 108 beads within stupas... Due to the humid environment within the stupas, the original strings often oxidized and disintegrated. The artifact presented here is a long necklace strung with 113 prayer beads.
