|Product introduction |
Australia introduced its decimal currency policy in 1966, and in 1984, it released its first one-dollar coin. The 1984 one-dollar coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a crown, facing right, with the inscription "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1984" around it. The reverse side showcases five kangaroos, designed by the renowned Australian artist and metalworker. The closest kangaroo is looking to the right but with its eyes directed to the left, and the coin is also marked with "1 DOLLAR."
This coin is quite special; it has a golden color that distinctly sets it apart from other copper-nickel or bronze coins. Additionally, it is thicker than other coins of the same diameter. The edge of the coin consists of seven smooth sections and seven serrated sections, and this unique edge design does not affect the coin's ability to roll, allowing it to be used in vending machines.
