This is a special notebook for collecting the vermilion stamps (Shuin) that can be received at shrines and temples as proof of a visit.
Shuin are typically a vermilion stamp featuring a related motif, along with the name of the principal deity or the shrine/temple name written in ink, but they vary greatly from shrine to temple, and recently, many unique and individualistic ones can be seen.
In Kyoto, you can also receive Shuin at the Gion Matsuri floats.
More than just a simple stamp, a Goshuincho filled with Shuin collected with reverence for deities, much like receiving talismans or amulets,
is not only a fun travel memento to look back on, but also a cherished and precious item.
