The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze application and fires the piece at 1260°C. Over 20 hours of intense heat transform the material within the kiln, causing it to contract and flow, thereby creating the intricate patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the firing temperature curve. Glazes that are too thin or fired at insufficient temperatures will fail to produce the "peacock display" pattern. Conversely, glazes that are too thick or fired at excessive temperatures can cause the glaze to run onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the teacup and the plate. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors intertwine in this process, and despite years of dedicated study, achieving absolute precision in controlling its variations remains elusive. It is precisely this inherent unpredictability that imbues each finished piece with such precious value. The artist hopes this work will inspire others to embrace hope when facing adversity, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to one day unfurl their own magnificent "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance and beauty, much like a peacock in full display.
