This botanical-dyed Kaya-ori wool long stole is hand-dyed to a vibrant yellow using the flower buds of the Japanese Pagoda Tree (Enju).
While the photos might show a slight cool undertone, the actual product is a very warm, bright yellow. Being a natural botanical dye, the color has depth and is sophisticated rather than garish.
In the cold of winter, I have dyed this to a shade that carries happiness and hope, gently warming the heart. This is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece.
The Pagoda Tree bud, known as "Kaika" in traditional herbal medicine, is famous for its hemostatic, vascular-strengthening, and anti-inflammatory properties. You can see these magnificent trees at the Tokyo Metropolitan Medicinal Botanical Garden.
The result is a powerful color that feels protective, much like the herbs it comes from.
Size: Approx. 117cm width x 185cm length (including 5cm fringe on each end). Weight: 146g.
While it is large enough to envelop your body, it is remarkably lightweight. Having been washed multiple times during production, it is fluffy and gentle without any wool-specific prickliness.
It can be gently hand-washed at home.
Kaya-ori wool features a cotton warp, but the parts that touch your skin are wrapped in soft wool. Its high absorbency ensures a fresh and comfortable feel across multiple seasons.
This oversized stole can be used as a shawl replacement or a cozy lap blanket. Take this opportunity to enjoy a gift from nature—a pure and gentle natural color.
