With no prior experience, we gradually learned the craft of leatherworking. We fell in love with the way genuine leather transforms over time, becoming richer in color, warm and lustrous, and uniquely ours. About Our Cowhide | ◆ Vegetable-Tanned Leather This refers to leather treated with natural agents, resulting in a warmer hue and more visible pores. Compared to chemically treated leather, it has a milder scent. Its characteristic is that it becomes increasingly lustrous with use, evolving into a style quite different from its initial appearance. This transformation process is sometimes called "leather nurturing." This type of leather, which changes color with use, is favored by a segment of consumers. Vegetable-tanned leather also comes in grades; the richer the oil content and the fewer the scars, the higher the quality and price. Premium vegetable-tanned leather primarily comes from Europe, which is where most of RamahLeatherware's leather originates, with a small portion from South America. If you wish to learn more about the leather we use, please feel free to message us. ◆ Leather Characteristics - Prolonged exposure to water may cause color transfer; please dry promptly. - Cowhide naturally has minor scars, much like human skin. These are more apparent in leather treated with natural agents. Please view these scars rationally; RamahLeatherware has already avoided over 90% of them. ◆ Care Instructions - No additional maintenance is required for regular use. However, if stored for extended periods in Taiwan's humid climate, it is prone to mold. Please store in a dry, well-ventilated environment or a dehumidifier box. ◆ If the leather gets wet, avoid direct sunlight or using a hairdryer. Rapid drying can make the leather brittle. Allow it to air dry naturally. Accidental soaking may result in noticeable watermarks. Other Notes | • Leather thickness does not indicate quality; all leather is processed from hides. • Handmade items are not perfect; perfectionists, please consider carefully before purchasing. • Vegetable-tanned leather is soft and more prone to scratches.
