The Taiwan Fir Cabin Organizer, inspired by the concept of "Where We Belong," creates a "home" for items that need to be put back after use. For a pen, for instance, it's where pens belong.
This series showcases abstract house forms, utilizing finger joint construction. Some pieces emulate the interlocking and stacked nature of brickwork, while others highlight the beauty of varying heights through intentionally protruding joinery. The primary technique involves variations in 3mm finger joints, precisely cut with a table saw and jig, creating spaced joints one by one.
A place to return to is "home," a place to "belong." Important items should be kept safely in their designated spots, just as sincere intentions deserve to be treasured. Through the repetitive, step-by-step crafting process, the artist of "Where We Belong" rediscovered the initial inspiration that moved them about woodworking. The sentiment embedded in this piece is a blessing for whatever finds its place within it.
