Book Description:
This book chronicles the correspondence between two young teachers, Edgar Cheung and Gabriel Chui, who were geographically separated between September 2019 and April 2020. Their letters offer sincere and candid reflections on personal matters, Hong Kong, education, further studies, faith, social movements, and the pandemic. It serves as a meaningful footnote to the contemporary history of our city, spreading hope to Hong Kongers of this generation under the same sky.
Endorsements:
He Lik-ko (Principal, Pui Ching Middle School, Hong Kong): At a time when people are growing more distant and the meaning of life seems increasingly elusive, Edgar and Gabriel embody the spirit of "If you have a dear friend far away, you feel like you are close." Unfazed by the vast ocean separating them, they share their true feelings through their words, unadorned and genuine, much like the epistles of the apostles in the New Testament offering encouragement, support, and comfort to their brethren.
Leung Pak-kin (Director of Publishing and Media Ministry, Breakthrough): Male friendships often manifest in the clinking of glasses at banquets or brief exchanges during gaming or watching sports. The ability to intimately share profound thoughts and feelings from the depths of one's soul, and to discuss the big and small events of life as if one were family, is a sincerity that is truly rare in our times.
Andy Hui (Veteran Writer): The resilience of this fractured world, enduring today without succumbing to nihilism, owes much to the silent endeavors of its inhabitants, who continuously seek and question to reaffirm their place. To find a kindred spirit on this journey of life, to support each other and engage in meaningful dialogue, is indeed a profound gift from the Lord.
