In the 18th century, Britain's persistent damp weather posed significant challenges for outdoor workers, who lacked moisture-resistant and durable clothing. This led to the creation of garments based on canvas, with the introduction of waterproof and resilient waxed jackets quickly gaining widespread popularity. Waxed fabric is made by incorporating wax into cotton or linen fibers, providing excellent windproof and weather-resistant properties. Due to their superior functionality, waxed jackets became standard issue field gear for the British Admiralty during World War II. The classic TYPE3 model was launched in 1967. Compared to the TYPE2, the TYPE3 evolved from a relaxed fit to a more modern Slim Fit silhouette. The double pocket design was updated to a shield shape, with the upper corners secured by stitching, and the previous generation's seam allowance was eliminated. In its place, two chain-like stitches extend downwards from the double pockets. RED TORNADO's design is based on the TYPE3 silhouette, meticulously adapted for Asian body types into a slightly tailored, shorter cut. The fabric is a premium, high-melt point oiled combed cotton canvas, lined with custom-made fleece for exceptional warmth and comfort. The collar is crafted from corduroy, and all hardware is custom-made by the brand, paired with high-cotton blend core-spun thread. The wax used is a blend of beeswax and various natural materials. Unlike other brands' waxes that melt at around thirty degrees Celsius, our carefully refined process ensures the wax only melts above seventy-five degrees Celsius, preventing any wax leakage during daily wear. Compared to other reproduction brands, our waxed fabric offers a supple texture and a superior hand-feel.
