**If you find yourself pondering questions about life, morality, suffering, or justice, we invite you to explore with us the vision of a meaningful life and an ideal society.**
The editorial goal of "Between the Lines, In the World" is straightforward: to directly engage with humanistic issues through Eastern and Western classics. By studying these foundational texts, the aim is to spark contemplation on the conditions, norms, and standards for a good life and an ideal society. The interplay between "the lines" and "the world" suggests that contemporary classical education is inherently a co-creative process between text and community. Ideally, readers will experience the development of an awareness that connects classical texts with humanistic values, fostering an ability to understand across time and discern right from wrong, thereby re-examining their own lives and contemporary concerns.

**Endorsements**
"The editors and authors of this book are all practitioners of education who deeply believe that general education serves as a window to ignite students' intellectual curiosity and cultivate their character. By analyzing classical texts, they explore value issues related to a happy life and a better society, such as self-awareness, moral questions, faith and suffering, and social systems, aiming to let readers feel the close relationship between reading classics and exploring values."
— Professor Angela LEUNG, Director of General Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
"A university should be a place where scholars and students gather to learn together. As members of this community, we engage in the study of classics, absorb the nourishment of Eastern and Western cultures, and allow students from different departments to engage in interdisciplinary discussions, building a shared learning experience. This fosters an intellectual community that is willing to seriously discuss public issues."
— Professor Henry CHONG, Former Head of the Department of Philosophy, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
