Creator: Zong-Ye | Mild Intellectual Disability with Autism
Maria Social Welfare Foundation, Technology and Vocational Training Center, Cleaning Group
Zong-Ye, who has mild intellectual disability with autism, used to prefer routine and disliked change before discovering art. This made him feel very uneasy when faced with new situations. His mother also suffers from a rare disease, cerebellar atrophy. Zong-Ye once told his teacher that he felt his mother worked very hard, so on weekends, he thoughtfully stays home to help her with handicraft work. He longs to have many friends and wishes he could take his mother out to play.
His teacher observed that through art, Zong-Ye has become more confident. He is now willing to experiment with different colors in his creations, and even his smile has become more frequent!
