Co-created by Taiwanese and Japanese editors, this project invites you to rediscover "Deep Taiwanese Travel"!
"Autumn Swordfish" magazine, specializing in deep Taiwan-Japan cultural exchange, has partnered with Japanese editor and writer Yusuke Tanaka to embark on a unique journey: the "Micro Pilgrimage," a complete walking tour across Taiwan. Traversing urban landscapes and rural villages, this project unveils a gradient of scenery between well-known attractions, exploring the deeply rooted local customs, culture, and history. Through a Japanese perspective, it presents a fresh travel concept, "Super New Taiwan Routes," featuring 8 major themes and 18 distinct routes, paying homage to Taiwan's iconic highways, Provincial Highway 1 and Provincial Highway 9.
The rules of the "Micro Pilgrimage" are simple:
1. No riding in vehicles, not even for a second.
2. No sleeping bags; find accommodation independently or rely on the kindness of others.
3. Prioritize taking detours over covering long distances, to create more opportunities for serendipitous encounters.
This is a journey that engages the mind, body, and soul, undertaken entirely on foot. In an era where "distant" places are easily accessible, seeing "deeply" requires a different approach. The answer lies in walking.
Cultural resonance is on the way.
