【Shino Glaze Series】Powder Shino Gold-Gilded Gaiwan | Capacity: approx. 100cc - Teapots & Teacups - Pottery

Product Description

A thoughtfully crafted gaiwan designed for ease of use, even for beginners: heat-resistant, non-slip, and ensures a smooth pour. Fired at a high temperature of 1260°C in a reduction atmosphere, it imparts a distinct "soft water feel" to your tea, resulting in a smoother, more enjoyable brew. The breathable glaze develops natural craquelure (crazing) with use, offering the daily pleasure of nurturing your vessel. The spout is meticulously finished to ensure a smooth, clean pour without dripping. The Shino glaze used originates from Mino, Japan, characterized by its feldspar-based white base. Master Yu applies his custom-blended Shino glaze to each piece, resulting in a warm, soft, and richly layered finish after firing. The powder Shino style features a delicate pink tone achieved through color glazing techniques applied after bisque firing, or by using layers of blush red, cherry pink, and creamy white glazes. Precision control of kiln temperature and the high-temperature reduction process creates a soft, romantic, and beautifully blended pink aesthetic. The interior Shino glaze, in direct contact with tea, softens the water and the tea's texture, enhancing its sweetness and aroma, creating the characteristic "soft water feel." The smooth, interior-glazed surface will gradually develop delicate, fine cracks, resembling gold and iron threads, as it encounters tea over time. With daily use, the tea color will slowly seep into these lines; visible results usually appear within a month, with more pronounced color variations after two to three months, allowing you to cultivate your own unique tea-stained patina. Each piece is reduction-fired at 1260°C, where the glaze undergoes natural kiln transformation. The flowing, blended colors are born from the interaction of fire and glaze, making every piece one-of-a-kind. The final touch is the hand-applied 24K liquid gold (genuine gold), which is then kiln-fired. The golden luster is warm and understated, shimmering gracefully in the light. Works by yuhuayuart are dedicated to those who appreciate details and refined living, transforming every tea session into a lasting experience of enjoyment and taste. Purchase Notice 1. Every piece by yuhuayuart is purely handmade by Master Yu. Each item is unique, reflecting the charm of handmade ceramics. 2. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original. Once sold, no identical piece will be available. If your preferred piece is sold out, please send a message to inquire about similar styles. 3. During the firing process, the glaze flows and distributes naturally; the surface may also develop subtle crazing due to temperature changes—a hallmark of kiln-fired ceramics. Please feel free to message us with any questions. 4. All works are photographed in a studio to best represent their original color. Please refer to the actual product, as color variations are not considered defects. Care Instructions | Gold-Gilded Works Gently wipe the gold layer with a soft cloth. Avoid using scouring pads or hard brushes, and do not soak in cleaning agents for extended periods. Do not place in a microwave (metal can cause sparks) or dishwasher to prevent the gold layer from wearing or flaking off. Author | Master Yu Huayu Born in 1980, he was captivated by pottery as a teenager. After his military service, he moved to Yingge, where he studied under masters Wu Guorong and Wu Jiancai, dedicating over twenty years to ceramic art. He has developed the Yohen Shino, Rock Mineral, and Purple Clay Cloud series, and has successfully recreated Song Dynasty celadon firing techniques. Creative Philosophy Master Yu centers his work on kiln transformation, believing each piece is a collaborative creation between artist and user across time. Each crack and color layer deepens with daily use, becoming a vessel of "the beauty of utility," ensuring tea drinking remains more than just a routine—a continuous indulgence in quality.
