Background
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. Yirgacheffe coffee beans grow at an altitude of 6,900 feet (2,300 meters, equivalent to the height of Alishan), in a sparsely populated area shaded by forests. It used to be the exclusive coffee of the Ethiopian royal family, but now the coffee beans from the Yirgacheffe producing area bring nearly 70% of foreign exchange to Ethiopia. This shows how popular Yirgacheffe is all over the world. Like other African producing areas, Yirgacheffe is most unique in that it has distinct fruity sweetness and sourness, with a refreshing fruity aroma. Lemony acid and floral aromas emerge immediately after taking the wine, with a hint of roasted caramel sweetness in the middle. The taste is clean, balanced and thick, and the end is like a berry with a lingering sweet and sour taste. Such a special flavor makes Yirgacheffe shine in the field of specialty coffee.
