{Author's Biography}
Xiao Ban (Kathy Chan) was born and raised in Hong Kong.
As a child, she was particularly shy and timid, not good with words, and felt peculiar. Her childhood dream was to be a normal, ordinary person.
She studied mathematics at university and then drifted in offices for several years before suddenly feeling unwilling to remain ordinary.
In 2014, she picked up her paintbrush and created the illustration character "Xiao Ban," a shy girl with a round face and a slightly plump figure.
She began painting full-time in 2016. Over the years, through "Xiao Ban," she has expressed many inner fears, struggles, courage, hopes, and love.
In 2019, she bravely went to Anglia Ruskin University to pursue further studies, completing her Master's degree in Children's Book Illustration in 2021.
She hopes to create a few moving stories in her lifetime.

{Author's Postscript} (Excerpt)
"Happy Picture Frame" is the first picture book I published. This story was created in 2019 while I was studying for my Master's degree in Children's Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. I was in a foreign country then, and it rained often in the UK with little sunshine. I particularly missed home and everything about Hong Kong. At that time, many people were unhappy, so I wanted to create a story about finding happiness.
May we remain kind and gentle during days of sudden sunshine and sudden rain, and may we remember to occasionally look up, gaze around, and treat those around us with kindness.
