I create my works based on the traditional Japanese craft of Ikkanbari. Ikkanbari is a craft in which a basket product is covered entirely in white washi paper, then decorated with colored washi paper and cloth, and finally finished with a coat of persimmon tannin and water-based varnish.
Many of the pieces use recycled fabrics and paper, but my work uses more everyday materials.
The design is based on red washi paper and features a large hand-drawn flower lover fabric. Copper-colored foil is also used as an accent. The inside is brown, and the handle cover and edges are black. The small oval shape gives the bag a sophisticated look. It comes with a cloth drawstring bag to change the look and hide the contents.
