Ink Within the Museum: Korean Contemporary Calligraphy Art Exhibition Catalog - Indie Press - Paper

Product Description

● This book will ship at the end of November. "Ink Within the Museum: Korean Contemporary Calligraphy Art" is a joint exhibition curated by the Yokoyama Calligraphy Art Museum (Calligraphy Museum) and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA). Curated by Bae Won-jung, MMCA Research Curator, it marks the first systematic exhibition of Korean contemporary calligraphy in Taiwan. Given the scarcity of comprehensive exhibitions and research on Korean calligraphy art in Taiwan, the Calligraphy Museum has specially collaborated with MMCA to borrow important works of Korean contemporary calligraphy for exhibition in Taiwan, presenting a diverse landscape of calligraphy art from different regions. This book is the exhibition catalog, including exhibition-related artworks, special essays, and exhibition space photographs. The essays feature an introduction to the development of modern Korean calligraphy by curator Bae Won-jung, and thematic essays by Kim Yi-soon, Professor at Hongik University, Korea, and Kim Hyun-kwon, Head of Research at Daegu Gansong Museum, discussing the relationship between Korean contemporary calligraphy and modern art. Through illustrated introductions, it is hoped to open a dialogue for calligraphy art within the world of East Asian contemporary art.
