Production Process Obijime is a traditional Japanese accessory—a decorative cord tied around the center of an obi (kimono sash). It serves both a practical purpose of securing the obi and an aesthetic role in enhancing the overall outfit. Most obijime are made of silk and are crafted using the kumihimo braiding technique. Nowadays, opportunities to wear kimono are becoming fewer, and many obijime remain unused, stored away. At Jili, we purchase such obijime in the best possible condition and give them new life by repurposing them into smartphone straps.
