Soviet wooden chess set – 1960s vintage Obyedovskie chess pieces with chessboard

This type of chess pieces had been manufacturing at the Ob`edovskaya factory "Igrushki" (means Toys), Ivanovo region, RSFSR from the 1950s to the early 1990s and has undergone some visual changes over time. In the photo, it is the chess pieces model of the 1960s, which is the early version of the model that was shown in the Queen's Gambit film (it is the 1980s model). You can see still carved rooks and ruffed queens. The chess pieces of later models lost these elements. Board 40x40 cm, cell 4.5 cm. King 97 mm, base 44 mm. Pawn 43 mm, base 30 mm. Weight 900 g.
