Production Process.
Based on a sketch, the clay is shaped and molded, then dried slightly. This process of shaping and refining is repeated several times. We produce enough to fill the kiln evenly over about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours. After removing from the kiln and wiping with water, each piece is individually glazed and fired again for 12 hours in the main firing. Some pieces are then finished with a gold glaze and placed back in the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require slow cooling, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Finally, each piece is inspected, and pins are attached to those that meet the standard. The current success rate is around 70%.
Although this process requires significant time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of clay, the strength of pottery, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents.
We hope these pieces will be cherished for a long time, remaining a constant favorite.
