Part of my science jewelry collection. Inspired by the different types of Gram stained bacteria visualized under the microscope.
The pendant in this necklace is created out of glass (by me) using fused glass technique. The different shades of glass are cut, shaped, layered and fused multiple times in a kiln.
Dimensions: ~ 35 mm (1.4")
The bail is sterling silver. The included sterling silver chain is a sturdy, elegant, and comfortable chain. It is available in 45 cm (18").
Science talk :)
Gram stain or Gram staining, also called Gram's method, is a method of staining used to classify bacterial species into two large groups: Gram-positive bacteria (purple) and Gram-negative bacteria (pink red). The name comes from the Danish bacteriologist Hans Christian Gram, who developed the technique in 1884.
