Yakut knife - a traditional knife of northern peoples Yakutian knife is a traditional knife for many northern peoples, but it was widespread for Russian people of Yakutia (Sakha Republic). It may become a decoration for private collections. Its peculiarity is that it has asymmetric sharpening of the blade. One side is represented by a lens, which is formed independently by forging the opposite side with a deepened groove. Dol gives additional strength (rigidity) of the product and reduces its weight. The width of the blade decreases towards the handle and enters it with a wedge. The knife is convenient for cutting the carcasses in conditions of severe frosts - the blade with a groove in the center provides less area of contact with the meat when cutting, thereby reducing friction. Convex shape of the blade is due to the fact that Yakuts have always used wood as the main material for cutting, and this shape facilitates removal of chips and helps to regulate the depth of planing.
