Taroko boasts stunning mountain and sea vistas,
with towering river terraces along the great riverbanks,
once a homeland for the Truku Tarowan people.
Centuries of coexistence between the Truku people and the mountains
saw a dramatic shift in 1914.
Governor-General Sakuma Samata led his troops into Taroko with overwhelming force,
and after the conflict, implemented a policy of forced resettlement,
moving the indigenous people to live on the plains.
Subsequently, through different eras and regime changes,
the Taroko region has accumulated stories from various ethnic groups.
Even today, the rivers of Taroko flow through breathtaking canyons,
hidden within the majestic mountains are untold stories,
waiting to be discovered and shared by the people of this land.
