To make the most of the beautiful and lustrous quality of the silk thread, we carefully wrap a single silk thread around the metal base. The earring posts are made from surgical stainless steel, which is less likely to cause metal allergies. Sustainability All pieces are crafted from high-quality Japanese silk threads that are unexpectedly left over during the production of woven fabrics, such as those used for kimonos. We've learned that surplus silk thread is often discarded, so we sought a way to avoid wasting this precious material, spun from silkworm cocoons, down to the shortest lengths. Our pieces are designed for longevity, as the thread can be rewound and the base can be repaired as needed.
