◤ Item Name: Qing Dynasty Guangxu Period Famille Rose Porcelain Tea Caddy
◤ Description:
Famille Rose porcelain (also known as soft-paste porcelain) is one of the four renowned ceramic types from Jingdezhen, a variety of overglaze enamel porcelain. The creation of Famille Rose involves first outlining patterns on a white porcelain body. Then, a base of "glass white" pigment, containing arsenic, is applied. Finally, the colors are painted on top and the piece is fired in a kiln at temperatures between 600 to 900 degrees Celsius. Due to the opacifying effect of arsenic and the opacity of the glass white pigment, the colors undergo a softening process when mixed with the base. Artisans can adjust the arsenic content in the glass white according to their preference, influencing the degree of softening in the applied colors. This results in a delicate and soft hue on the porcelain, hence its name.
◤ Features:
The use of "glass white" pigment gives the designs a soft texture and a strong sense of dimensionality. It also incorporates the compositional techniques of traditional Chinese meticulous brushwork with rich colors. The scenes display a harmonious interplay of light and shade, form and void, bringing the imagery to life with delicate and flowing lines. The colors are clear, delicate, and soft. Whether depicting landscapes, narratives, flora and fauna, or decorative still lifes, each composition is imbued with poetic and picturesque charm. Famille Rose porcelain is crafted with exquisite detail and elegant forms, making it a treasure for modern collectors. This Famille Rose tea caddy features a lid with double finger holes and the auspicious characters "吉祥" (Jíxiáng - auspiciousness). The body is adorned with depictions of court ladies and an attendant, and the base bears the inscription "Guangxu Nian Zhi" (Made in the Guangxu Reign). The body exhibits brown repair marks, reflecting the ancient appreciation and care for cherished objects.

Ceramic Care Instructions:
1. Hand wash only. The glaze and body of porcelain are delicate and easily scratched. Avoid using abrasive cloths that could scuff the surface.
2. When washing with water, do not exceed 70 degrees Celsius and do not soak the porcelain in hot water for extended periods, as this may affect its aesthetic appearance.
3. After washing, allow the porcelain to air dry naturally or wipe it with a soft cloth. Do not place it in high-temperature drying equipment such as sterilizing dishwashers.
4. Stains should be cleaned immediately to prevent them from setting. For tea or coffee stains, lemon juice or vinegar can be used for cleaning.
5. During winter, control water temperature to prevent the porcelain from cracking due to extreme cold or sudden hot water exposure. It is best to use a wooden or plastic basin for washing, avoiding ceramic or cement basins that could cause damage.
