Care and Maintenance Notes:
★ Each piece is a unique handmade wool artwork, crafted by artisans, and each is one-of-a-kind.
★ Handmade wool products may have slight imperfections characteristic of handcrafting, unlike machine-made items that are perfectly uniform. There might be a stray thread or minor variations in dye. (If significant, it will be noted and clearly shown in photos. If you are particularly sensitive to the handmade aesthetic, please consider carefully. If you haven't purchased handmade textiles before, feel free to message us for details on specific items.)
★ Do not machine wash wool products. Dry cleaning once a season is recommended. If hand washing, use a wool-specific detergent or shampoo and gently wash separately (darker dyed items may experience some color bleeding). Air dry and then iron on a low setting with a towel underneath (do not expose to direct sunlight).
★ The items we select are fine, artistic pieces, especially our cashmere products, which require gentle handling. Fingernails, jewelry, hardware zippers on bags, and Velcro on clothing can easily snag the fibers, so please handle with care. While cashmere is light and soft, wool products are generally more durable against friction. We select virgin wool and lambswool, or use a boiled wool process, making our wool softer and more skin-friendly than ordinary wool. We personally find them non-irritating, and will clearly mark any items that might be so. If you are particularly sensitive to itchiness, please message us.
★ Each item comes with an eco-friendly, minimalist kraft paper box, gift-wrapped, perfect for presenting to your dearest.
Xiannvxing Selects - North Indian Kashmiri Wool Handmade Scarves/Shawls
Boiled Wool Scarf/
Due to the high altitude and lower boiling point of the Kashmir plateau, a special boiled wool technique has been developed. Through repeated boiling and drying, the boiled wool becomes fluffier, softer, and more skin-friendly than ordinary wool products. The multi-layered yarn is thick and soft, providing excellent wind protection. Paired with carefully selected hand-embroidered yarn, the details are exquisite (can be worn on both sides; one side features contrasting or lighter tones. The reverse side may have a few hand-tied knots; if you don't mind, both sides can be worn).
Kani Old Craft/
Kani is a classical Indian weaving art (not printing). Traditionally, wooden shuttles were used to weave vines, flowers, paisley, maple leaves, and other natural motifs thread by thread. Each piece could take months to complete. Nowadays, machine-woven versions are more common, requiring time-consuming hand-cutting of threads on the back, leaving warp threads visible, resembling impressionist paintings. Some people also enjoy wearing the reverse side.
Hand Embroidery/
The embroidery thread across the entire shawl is meticulously hand-stitched, so it won't be as precisely aligned or flat as machine embroidery, but it possesses the charm of fine handcraft. Filled with delicate and beautiful details, adorned with vibrant vines or the paisley motif representing eternal life and royalty, it evokes a romantic Bohemian garden feel.
Kalenkali Hand-Dyed Embroidery/
India's renowned dyeing techniques are combined with hand embroidery. Intricate and beautiful dyed patterns adorn the entire shawl, with colorful embroidery threads outlining the patterns. The piano-style border at the bottom, similar to Kani, adds to the charm. Experience the richness of two traditional crafts, full of exquisite handmade details, worthy of collection.
