The fine particles of the lacquer itself give the chopsticks a characteristic slightly rough texture. The chopstick tips are square for easy picking up of food. They are characterized by a shape that combines ease of holding and ease of gripping. The subtle gold on the chopstick head makes for a design that is not overly ostentatious. Re-lacquering the tips of the Kezuri chopsticks is accepted at Hyozayemon stores for drop-off and pickup.
