These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring Kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Fukukikama, a kiln based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, renowned for Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki.
Broken or chipped ceramics, no longer in use, are upcycled and meticulously repaired with Kintsugi to create these unique accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to foster a connection with nature and Japan's enduring traditions, reimagining them into modern accessories that bridge the past and future, thereby creating new possibilities.
Elegant grey pottery shards are paired with freshwater pearls.
The sides of the pottery fragments are embellished with Kintsugi, allowing the gold to beautifully catch the light from every angle, adding a touch of refined grace.
These pieces are perfect as a stylish accent for both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: 13 x 15mm
Metal Fittings: Surgical stainless steel earrings (Fittings cannot be changed)
Weight: Despite being pottery, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, they make for an ideal gift.
They are also perfect as a thoughtful present for someone special.
*As these are one-of-a-kind finished products, we cannot accommodate requests for changes to the metal fittings or remake them.
*We will send the item pictured. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please be aware that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery shards and natural stones compared to the photos.
* "Kintsugi" is a traditional Japanese repair technique that mends broken or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. These pieces are created using a modern, simplified Kintsugi method. Unlike traditional Kintsugi which uses natural lacquer derived from the urushi tree sap, this process utilizes adhesive for the primary bonding.
The Kintsugi parts are made with lacquer (a manufacturer-produced coating, not raw urushi) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
