It not only allowed me to rediscover the joy of living mindfully but also showcased the ancient capital's emphasis on and innovation in traditional culture and crafts. Among these, the most captivating to me at first sight were the pouches crafted by a kimono artisan. Mr. Nakamura, a gentleman who is both reserved and elegant, has retired from his career as a kimono artisan. However, he continues to create pouches designed using kimono fabrics he has cherished throughout his life. ◾️【Premium Kimono Tsumugi Series】 The spirit of lifelong dedication is fully evident in the details and material selection. This piece features Kyoto's exquisite 'Kanozushi' tie-dyeing, named for its pattern resembling a fawn's spots. The manual dyeing process is exceptionally intricate and refined, resulting in a completely unique color and pattern. Consequently, this style is extremely rare, and such a treasure should be cherished with the 'ichi-go ichi-e' (one time, one meeting) philosophy. Mr. Nakamura's pouches stand apart from those made with synthetic fibers or cotton commonly found on the market. Even accessories should withstand scrutiny like fine jewelry. He explained, "Use it gently; the texture will become even softer over time." - It can truly be said that people in Kyoto use only the finest things! At first, I was simply drawn to its appearance and didn't pay much attention to the premium kimono fabric, taking the detailed metal clasp for granted. But after bringing it home and actually using it, I understood the true value. With every opening and closing, I can't help but admire it, growing more fond of it the longer I look.
